Background
Digital Garden is a Los Angeles-based editing and production studio for film and audio. The team approached me to help them create a new portfolio site to showcase their work.
Our goal was to design a sci-fi inspired site that evoked an interface you might find in Blade Runner or Evangelion, but without distracting too much from the work.
Platform
We decided to use Webflow because it offered the best balance of simple content management and a customizable frontend. For faster streaming of video content, videos would be hosted on Vimeo.
Weblow’s CMS features made adding a new project to the site easy; all of a project’s content could be edited in a single CMS collection entry.
Design
The inverted overlaid typography, animations, and registration notches on the sides and corners were small touches that helped imbue a feeling of a futuristic touch screen display. I configured SwiperJS to allow users to navigate to project previews by swiping on their screen, using arrow keys, or scrolling with their mousewheel.
The site gracefully shrinks for mobile viewing too.
